Article:
Brother, Can You Spare a DIME?
Subject: Nested DIME messages
Date: 2002-10-03 13:56:15
From: Matt Powell

In this article you say that a DIME message cannot be embedded within another DIME message. However the DIME spec refers to the nesting issue in the context of a single sequence of DIME data records. There are no restrictions against including a DIME message in the payload of a DIME data record. In fact it is mentioned a couple of times in the spec that it is okay to include a DIME message in a data record's payload. If you do this, the embedded DIME message does not interfere with the sequence of the "parent" DIME message's data records because it would not be looking into the payload of the data records to pull out arbitrary DIME headers (and no MB/ME flags would be considered).
